New coffee shop is coming to the Bradenton area from Nebraska-based chain

It seems that coffee lovers can never get enough of their favorite beverage.

To help satisfy the demand, a new player, Scooter’s Coffee, is making plans to open its first franchise in the Bradenton area.

The coffee shop is planned for 6625 State Road 70 E., according to paperwork filed recently with Manatee County Building Services.

The nearly one-acre vacant commercial parcel is next to Braden River High School, between a Zaxby’s Chicken Fingers & Buffalo Wings, 6591 S.R. 70 E., and a Synovus Bank branch, 6705 S.R. 70 E.

Don and Linda Eckles founded Scooter’s Coffee in 1998 by opening their first drive-thru coffeehouse in Bellevue, Nebraska.

“Their keys to success: find a great location and stay committed to high-quality drinks, speed of service, and a big smile. Scooter’s Coffee is fortunate to have over two decades of success due to its commitment to the original business principles and company core values,” according to the company website.

The hot drink menu includes brewed coffee as well as a variety of lattes, mochas, espresso, cappuccino, cafe au lait and hot chocolate.

Scooter’s signature drink is Caramelicious, described as including caramel sauce, frothy milk and espresso, topped with whipped cream drizzled with more caramel.

All of the drinks served at Scooter’s are offered hot, iced or blended.

The Scooter’s menu also includes smoothies, teas and food.

The food menu ranges from sweet treats like red velvet cake bites and cinnamon rolls to more savory offerings, such as burritos, egg and cheddar biscuit sandwiches and bacon ciabatta sandwiches.

Scooter’s already has franchises in St. Petersburg, Brandon, New Port Richey, Fort Myers, Orlando and elsewhere in Florida.

“The very first Scooter’s Coffee location was known as ‘Scooter’s Java Express.’ We named it ‘Scooter’s’ after reviewing a list of options including ‘Scooter.’ The name fit well with our mission to keep customers happy by helping them ‘scoot in and scoot out’ quickly,” the company says.
