Comedy duo will bring show to Modesto’s Gallo Center. What makes it different?

Improv and other laughs return to the region, with comedy shows set at the Gallo Center for the Arts and the State Theatre in Modesto. Sankofa Theatre Company also presents “Death of a Salesman” at the Gallo Center. They are among the entertainment planned Feb. 10-16.

Mochrie and Sherwood

Comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood take to the Gallo Center stage to create original scenes in their two-man show. Known for their TV work on “Whose Line is it Anyway?” they improvise new material nightly from audience suggestions and participation.

“Death of a Salesman”

Sankofa Theatre Company, joined by Gallo Center Repertory Theatre, presents Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman.” Sankofa offers the classic tragedy from the perspective of a Black family. The lead character Willy Loman is a traveling salesman deeply disappointed with his life.

Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra brings its Spring Concert to the Gallo Center. Led by its leadership team, the symphony’s youth orchestra serves more than 100 young musicians and their families from more than 40 public and private schools in the Central Valley.

Prince tribute

The State Theatre presents “When Doves Cry – The Prince Tribute Show.” The performance “is an exciting and dynamic live concert experience, that puts the integrity of the music Prince left us above all else,” according to the venue website. The band performs the late singer’s greatest hits, as well as many of his other songs.

We Own The Laughs

We Own The Laughs: Modesto returns to the State Theatre. The show will feature Tania Estrada, Tyson Paul, Subhah Agarwal, Saul Trujillo and headliner Nick Guerra. The host for the evening will be Modesto native Monique Flores. The show is for ages 18 and older.
