Coronation Street's Cassie Plummer faces backlash after Tyrone Dobbs leaves Weatherfield

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Cassie Plummer is set to face a big backlash from Evelyn following Tyrone Dobbs's departure from Coronation Street.

Tyrone is set to take a break from the soap as actor Alan Halsall recovers from surgery on his knee late last year.

In scenes airing next week, the character will say goodbye to Weatherfield, as Tyrone tells Evelyn that wife Fiz is heading to a course in Italy and has invited him to go with her.

While he is worried about leaving the girls with mum Cassie, Tyrone decides in the end to go ahead with the trip.

After departing, Cassie gives Ruby nail extensions and also offers her crisps for breakfast. Evelyn then takes a call from the school, furiously confronting Cassie, saying she is a hindrance to the girls.

Will this spur on a hurt Cassie to change her approach?

Cassie's arrival in Weatherfield last year has drawn a big wedge between Tyrone and grandmother Evelyn.

The most recent scenes have seen Cassie attack Evelyn's nemesis Terry, leading to Evelyn being arrested for the crime. But will Cassie be able to come clean about what she's done?

Meanwhile, speaking last year after his ACL reconstruction surgery, Alan told his followers on social media: "I have been told the surgery went really well.

"I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I'm sure with the support of family and friends I'll get there. Thank you to the amazing staff at Oaklands and also thanks to my very own nurse @missdrewmerry93."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
