Coronation Street's Liam McCheyne pays sweet birthday tribute to Mason star

Coronation Street's Liam McCheyne has shared a sweet birthday tribute to co-star Luca Toolan.
While McCheyne's character Liam Connor recently endured months of relentless bullying at the hands of Toolan's Mason Radcliffe as part of an issue-based storyline for the soap, it's (thankfully) a very different story off-screen as the two actors are actually close friends.
To commemorate Toolan's 20th birthday, McCheyne took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo of the pair together on set, along with a heartwarming message.

"Wishing a very happy birthday to my best mate @lucatoolan. As soon as we met back in July, we've just got on like a house on fire," he wrote.
"Since being on the show he has absolutely smashed it, and it's been a pleasure to share a bit of that with you. Hope you have a great day, pal. Here's to another year of fun and hard work!"
Among the floods of birthday messages from fans in the post's comment section, Toolan replied: "You’re a rare kind Liam".

Coronation Street recently confirmed that Mason will receive a prison sentence after being charged for threatening Liam with a zombie knife.
In an episode that aired on April 8, Liam finally managed to convince Dylan Wilson to testify against Mason in court.
Although Dylan initially lied to the court out of fear after Mason's friend Conch threatened him and his entire family, he eventually broke down and admitted that he saw Mason with the knife.
As a result, Mason was found guilty before being told that he would receive a custodial sentence.
