Corrections and clarifications

• Owing to an editing error, an article (Home Office to detain UK asylum seekers…, 29 April, p1) referred to a plan for “refugees” to be held prior to deportation. This should have said asylum seekers, people whose refugee status has yet to be determined.

• A number of statistics described as being from “the latest Barclays consumer spending report released today” were in fact from a report released on 9 April (Cold, wet weather dampens start of spring for retailers, 7 May, p27).

• Other recently amended articles include:

Bank of England keeps interest rates at 5.25% but hints at a June cut
