Cougar helicopter lands safely at St. John's airport after fire warning

Cougar helicopter turns back due to indicator light

Cougar Helicopters Flight CGR151 made a precautionary landing at St. John's International Airport at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The helicopter turned around after receiving an intermittent fire warning while en route to the GSF Grand Banks offshore rig.

It was carrying 10 passengers and two crew members, according to Cougar public affairs officer Candace Moakler.

The flight was escorted back to base by Cougar's Search and Rescue aircraft as required company protocol,

Upon arrival, the Cougar maintenance department inspected the aircraft and determined that the fire warning was a false alarm.
