Courteney Cox and Monica Geller have a lot in common in real life!
The actress, 59, revealed just how similar she is to her iconic Friends character, Monica, during a panel discussion at the Marie Claire Power Play Event in Santa Monica, Calif. on Monday.
“It just so happened that I've always been obsessed with design and scents, and architecture — just the whole thing,” she says after host Nikki Ogunnaike asks her about the inspiration behind her home-care line, Homecourt.
She continues, “It's just been something, and obviously, I'm clean. I'm Monica.”
The Scream star adds that the idea to launch her own brand came to her during the COVID-19 pandemic and that she didn’t think it would be the “next step” in her career.
“It just so happened that during COVID I was going to do a candle line, and then the concept came up. Why not do a product line where you can clean, make it look good, put all of the things that I love to do?”
She remembers not being able to find any “elevated cleaning supplies that you would want to leave out on your counter” at the time, so she jumped on the opportunity.
“It was the perfect timing. It just worked out. And thank God, I don't know what I would've done during lockdown if I wasn't busy every second, because I go stir crazy,” the actress jokes.
Following the launch of Homecourt in January 2022, Cox elaborated on how hyper-organized she is when it comes to her own home during an exclusive interview for a PEOPLE cover story.
"I care about the way everything looks," she admitted. "Which is a blessing and a curse."
As for how the products in her collection came to be, she used skincare and other self-care products as a blueprint.
"You find yourself at home so much now that I was like, 'Why not make your home as important as you would yourself, your body, your face?'" the director shared. "So we decided to create a room spray, which is coming out later, a counter spray, dish soap, hand soap and hand lotion."

"I'm so into design and it's something that you would leave on your counter. If you're going to have dish soap and you're going to have hand soap, you don't want to hide it. You have to have it out because it's got to be convenient. And these are so pretty."
