Customer slugs clerk with brass knuckles. Clerk pulls out box cutter, Gig Harbor cops say

Gig Harbor police are investigating a stabbing inside a gas station.

Police were dispatched at 4:17 p.m. Monday after a passerby reported an alleged assault at a gas station on Soundview Drive. A customer allegedly struck a clerk with brass knuckles during an altercation, Gig Harbor Police Chief Kelly Busey told The News Tribune.

At the same time, the clerk tried to defend himself with a box knife and stabbed the customer. The customer was taken to the hospital with stab wounds that were not deep, Busey said. The customer was arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail.

Investigators are trying to get an interview with the suspect to learn why the altercation began. There were no other customers or employees present at the time of the incident.
