Cyclist hit by train in Brossard

A cyclist was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a train in Brossard on Montreal's South Shore.

The exact nature of his injuries are not known, but police say he is expected to survive.

The incident happened on Monday evening near Lapinière and Leduc boulevards, close to the Bell Sports Complex where the Montreal Canadiens hold their practices.

Police officers actually witnessed the incident — they were posted nearby.

There is a bike path that crosses the rail crossing at the spot where the cyclist was hit.

The railway company is investigating.
