We all have outfits we look back on with some regret. Maybe several outfits. But even Hollywood stars have their moments of 'what was I thinking?' it seems.
Dakota Johnson, 32, recently spoke to Elle UK Magazine about her fashion choices, and her stand-out red carpet looks - the good and bad.
Shown a series of photos of herself to comment on, she gasped at an image of herself in 2003.
"This is so embarrassing, oh my God, why haven't I seen these?" She laughed.
"That was the premiere of (Disney's) The Cheetah Girls, in 2003," she said. "I think I was 12 and I'm wearing a mesh tank top... is that a beret? What's happening, am I wearing a beret with a mesh tank top? Are those pinstriped suit pants? Fashion icon!"
She also recalled her favourite shoes. "When I was really little, I used to wear these black patent leather Mary Janes all the time - they're cool now!"

Talking of her high school years fashion inspiration, Johnson added, "I guess when I was in high school, Kate Moss was like, the coolest," though recalling the early '00s hipster-jeans trend the actress added,
"I'll never understand low rise jeans - I remember those Frankie B jeans, the zipper was this long...I wore those for sure!"
Her teen style was eclectic, she admitted. "When I was a teenager, I had a boyfriend for a long time and we would share clothes. That was no one’s style. It was a little confused!"
Asked to recall the chic-est outfit she’s ever worn, Johnson remembered the look she wore to the Sphere premiere in 1998.
"I'm maybe 9 years old, I'm wearing a grey and black suit with a little headband- and a purse - what's in there? What does a nine year old need in a purse?" she laughed.
Dakota's actress mother, Melanie Griffith, also loves fashion, she added - but their styles are very different.
‘My mum and I have different styles. She is really good at cleaning out her closet... and I am not," revealed Johnson. "I’m the person who saves a lot of my clothes, I even save a lot of her clothes, and pieces – like dresses and jackets – that are special."
Discussing her stand-out red carpet looks, the actress and Gucci ambassador explained the story behind her Met ball dress in 2019.
"I remember that the bleeding heart had just a couple of droplets of blood and I asked if they could make the blood go all the way down the dress and into the train," she explained. The ball's theme that year was "Camp: Notes on Fashion".
"I love working with Gucci, I love Alessandro (Michele)," she said of the label's creative director. "He's a really good friend."
At the Venice Film Festival, Dakota also wore Gucci. "I'm wearing a Gucci chainmail dress... it was exhausting wearing it," she admitted, "it was so heavy, and I was naked underneath!"
One of her favourite looks, she added, was her Oscars 2017 dress. "It was an off-white cream silk gown that Gucci made - I felt that was the most glamorous dress I'd ever seen, it felt very 40s and 'Old Hollywood' chic," she said.
Seeing another image of herself in a billowing white skirt and bra-lette tops, Johnson added, "This was at the governor's award in 2019 and I was wearing a Brandon Maxwell gown...I seem to have abs!
"Sometimes I get really nervous on a red carpet," she confessed. "The whole thing is really strange anyway, so either I'm tripping out on how strange it is, or I'm terrified."
