Danny DeVito Says He and Arnold Schwarzenegger Are Making Another Movie Together 35 Years After “Twins”
A long-rumored reunion between “good buddies” Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger is officially in the works
We’re getting closer to an onscreen reunion between everyone’s favorite movie twins.
Danny DeVito is confirming a new project is in the works with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The news comes 35 years after the release of Twins, one of the actors’ most beloved collaborations.
“We’re working on something, a project that we’re going to do together, another movie,” DeVito, 79, told CNN on Tuesday.
Of his bond with the bodybuilder-actor-politician, 76, DeVito noted that their friendship predated the 1988 comedy about an unlikely pair of brothers. “Arnold and I are good buddies. We met way before Twins, years ago,” he said.

“We get along really well,” added DeVito, who also starred with the Terminator star in the 1994 comedy Junior with Emma Thompson. (In 1993’s Schwarzenegger-led The Last Action Hero, DeVito appeared as the voice of a cartoon cat detective.)
The Matilda star first teased a potential reunion with Schwarzenegger in a GQ interview in November. Referencing the politician's tenure leading California from 2003 to 2011, DeVito joked, “We missed Twins 2, because he became governor — which, he should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor."
While a follow-up to Twins has been rumored for years — including news of a sequel titled Triplets starring the likes of Eddie Murphy and Tracy Morgan — DeVito clarified that what he and Schwarzenegger might work on is instead about “just two friends, two guys.”
“We complement each other in a lot of ways,” continued DeVito, joking, “I am way stronger than he is.”

Speaking to CNN, the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia said, “We’re hoping that sooner than later, we’ll have a nice script to go to work.”
The longtime friends were among the presenters at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony on March 10. Both kept their appearance onstage, to introduce the best visual effects and best film editing categories, under wraps, according to DeVito.
“It’s just so much fun and we kept it a surprise as much as we could,” he said. “We didn’t tell anybody and that was fun going out there and it was a big, good reception.”

At the Oscars, DeVito and Schwarzenegger earned a standing ovation before delivering a bit about both playing Batman villains the Penguin and Mr. Freeze, respectively. They poked fun at fellow presenter Michael Keaton, who played the masked hero in 1992's Batman Returns.
