Dead longhorn found outside Oklahoma State fraternity during ‘Texas Hate Week,’ cops say

A dead longhorn was discovered outside an Oklahoma State University fraternity house a day before the college’s football team takes on the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game, reports say.

The longhorn, found Friday, Dec. 1, outside the FarmHouse fraternity house, had “F*** FH” carved into its side and had a cut that exposed its intestines, according to Oklahoma State University’s student newspaper, The O’Colly.

A Stillwater police officer told KFOR the cow is believed to have been killed within 24 hours of its discovery. It was likely dumped onto the lawn from a trailer.

It’s unclear who put the longhorn in the lawn. A representative for the FarmHouse fraternity told The O’Colly the situation had “been turned over to the authorities.”

“Oklahoma State University is appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty that occurred overnight at an off-campus location near a fraternity house,” the university said in a statement. “The Stillwater Police Department is investigating the incident, and the university’s Office of Student Support and Conduct also has initiated an investigation. Oklahoma State expects all students to adhere to university codes of conduct, and appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.

Stillwater police spokesperson TJ Low called it a “very unusual situation.”

“We’ve never had anything like this within our jurisdiction,” he told The Oklahoman. “It’s a very cruel crime to be committed, especially right before the Big 12 Championship. Nothing is worth doing that kind of crap.”

The fraternity chapter said in a statement none of its members were involved in the incident.

“As a chapter founded on principles driven by our agricultural roots, we’re just as sickened and surprised by this incident as our peers on campus,” the chapter said. “It is disheartening to see the disregard for proper animal welfare and treatment displayed by this situation.”

The Oklahoma State Cowboys face the University of Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game Saturday in Dallas. Oklahoma State University has dubbed the days leading up to the game “Texas Hate Week,” according to The Oklahoman and WBAP.
