Deion Sanders to make it Prime Time at MLB All-Star celebrity softball game
Starting tomorrow, events for Major League Baseball's All-Star Weekend will officially be underway. However, the most notable festivities kick off on Saturday, July 13, with the MLB Futures Game as well as the beloved Celebrity Softball Game.
Even though MLB games will still be played that Saturday, you can be sure that several fans will opt to watch their favorite stars take Globe Life Field instead. This year's lineups boast a tremendous amount of star power including actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish, U.S. Olympic Softball star (and celebrity softball mainstay) Jennie Finch, MLB Hall of Famer Pedro Martínez, SNL cast member Marcello Hernández, former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant, and many more.
Arguably the biggest name on this year's roster, though, is Colorado football head coach and former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro cornerback Deion Sanders.

Coach Prime to participate in 2024 Celebrity All-Star Softball Game
Major League Baseball confirmed via press release that Coach Prime will participate in this year's celebrity softball game. Sanders was not originally listed in the players' list but was added this morning alongside Haddish, Bryant, and influencers King Bach and Jenna Bandy.
Sanders – a former MLB player himself, having recorded 39 home runs and 186 stolen bases in his nine-year MLB career – has spent the last four years as a college football coach between Jackson State and the University of Colorado. Last year, Sanders' Buffaloes started the season red-hot, even garnering top-25 recognition before losing eight of their last nine games to end the season.
Sanders' larger-than-life personality and impeccable on-camera presence have made the University of Colorado one of college football's cant-miss programs despite having not recorded a winning season since 2016 (the team went 4-2 during the shortened 2020 season).
Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, is currently the starting quarterback for Coach Prime's Buffaloes. Shedeur Sanders is expected to be a first-round pick in next year's NFL draft, with some experts believing he could be selected among the top-5 picks.
