Denis Coderre's salary up $2.5K since last year

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre's salary has gone up $2,500 since last year to $165,000, according to the city.

He also has an expense account of $16,000, as do other elected municipal officials.

The current head of the Official Opposition, Luc Ferrandez, earns $103,000 per year.

The city employee with the highest salary is Alain Marcoux, Montreal's director general. He earns $357,000 per year.

Other expenses

Last year, it was announced the city's chauffeur budget would get a $200,000 boost under Coderre.

With that money, the city hired an extra driver to meet the needs of the mayor and executive committee members. It also budgeted for $131,000 in overtime costs for the chauffeur pool.

The Coderre administration has come under fire in the past for expenses related to its travel schedule.

Between 2013 and 2016 the administration spent $200,000 in travel expenses for 85 trips to 5 different continents.
