Disney Just Quietly Dropped First Look Inside Rethemed Splash Mountain Ahead of Reopening as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
A YouTube video shared by Walt Disney Imagineering gives a peek inside the attraction inspired by 2009's 'The Princess and the Frog'
Disney unveiled the first-ever look inside the new ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure!
A YouTube video shared by Walt Disney Imagineering on Wednesday, May 29, dives into how music is created for Disney attractions and includes a peek inside the attraction inspired by the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog.
The ride, set to open next month at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in place of Splash Mountain, will feature original music, as well as tunes from the movie.
In the video, musician PJ Morton and Tricia Holloway, global music executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, went on the ride and were transported into vibrant New Orleans.
Exciting snippets of the highly anticipated attraction are shown in the clip from the start of their ride when they took their seats in the familiar log flume. As the log moves uphill, an animatronic figure resembling Tiana greets riders while wearing a white chef’s jacket, gray slacks, and a multicolored necktie. She appears to be in a kitchen surrounded by spices and a chalkboard menu.
Next, the riders continue through a dimly lit cave filled with colorful bushes and large trees. There is bright blue lighting on the walls. As they journey farther into the ride, the same animatronic makes another appearance in the wooded backdrop. This time, she has an explorer's hat and a portable lantern.
Another sequence on the ride features dancing bears and brightly colored lights. The scene then transforms into into a backdrop covered in oversized colorful mushrooms and screens playing videos of Tiana as a child.
There is a brief peek at the finale which greets riders with the sign, "Welcome to the Fleur du Bayou, home of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen."

On May 12, Disney announced that the ride is set to open on Friday, June 28, at the Florida theme park.
“You’ll join Princess Tiana on an adventure through the bayou as she prepares to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome,” Sarah Riles, vice president at Magic Kingdom Park, said of the new ride. “Along the way, you will see some familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou into the next chapter of Tiana’s story.”
She also revealed that the ride will include a “thrilling” 50-foot drop.

The attraction’s opening date comes nearly four years after the company first announced that Splash Mountain would be reimagined with the new theme at both Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.
In June 2023, fans saw a tiara-topped water tower pop up overnight at the Florida theme park, which was confirmed as the "centerpiece" for the ride in an Instagram post by Disney Parks.
