Doctor Who spoilers follow.

Doctor Who star Anita Dobson has weighed in on the mystery surrounding her character Mrs Flood, teasing that more will be revealed in due course.

In the latest season of the long-running series, Mrs Flood was introduced as Ruby Sunday's neighbour.

However, it soon became clear there was more to her, as she repeatedly broke the fourth wall to address the camera during the series.

"You will find out more about her as we go along," Dobson told RadioTimes.com.

Mrs Flood seems to know what a TARDIS is, as revealed in the closing moments of 'The Church on Ruby Road'.

During '73 Yards', she remarked "nothing to do with me" while Ruby was standing in the street talking to her mum Carla on the phone, as they tried to figure out what a mysterious figure was saying to make people frightened of Ruby.

In the two-part finale 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' and 'Empire of Death', Mrs Flood also made it clear she was aware of villain Sutekh's return and delivered an ominous warning, telling Ruby's grandmother Cherry: "I'd be very careful, Mrs Sunday – there's a storm coming in… He waits no more."

And 'Empire of Death' closed with Mrs Flood breaking the fourth wall again, mentioning a "very happy ending" for Ruby and sharing a chilling warning about how The Doctor's story ends.

While the mystery wasn't solved before the season 14 finale, Dobson promised season 15 will give viewers more clues as to who Mrs Flood really is.

"In fact, this particular series, season 2, which we're [filming] at the moment, you do actually find out quite a lot about her. That'll be interesting, to see what people think," the former EastEnders star said.

"I've been in the dark for so long that I quite like it now! I never know what's going to happen and that's part of the fun."

Meanwhile, fans have their own theories about Mrs Flood's identity, with some thinking the character could be the Doctor's granddaughter Susan Foreman.

Meanwhile, others are convinced she's one of the gods in the Pantheon of Discord, or that she could be a god of stories or storytelling.

Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
