“She has no voice. I'm her voice,” Murena says of her late dog's tragic death. “I'm just gonna continue to fight for gun control [and] for animal cruelty, like justice needs to be served.”

Murena previously told PEOPLE that on Monday morning, her brother Sal "heard glass shatter around 1:00 in the morning,” adding that her family did not "hear any gunshots" but "heard the glass in my parents' bedroom shatter."

Then around 1:15 a.m., her brother then "heard Arya whimpering, and he found her on the couch... and she was crying, she was bleeding and shaking," shared Murena. She explained that she and her father, Al, then "immediately" rushed Arya to the vet around 1:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, the vet took x-rays, and “that's how [the Murenas] found that she got shot. They found the bullet in her.” She underwent surgery that morning, and by Wednesday she was walking again.

"She didn’t deserve this. She was an amazing dog,” says Murena. “She loved everybody. And I always told her, ‘Not everyone is your friend.’ ”

“I mean, it could have been anyone in my household. It could have been my seven-year-old niece,” Murena also previously shared with PEOPLE. “It could have been anyone. I don't know why illegal guns are still allowed on the streets. I have no idea.”
