Dog survives after being found in a ditch with bullet in his head

The Sûreté du Québec has launched an investigation to find out who shot a dog in the head and left him for dead in Brome Lake.

The dog, found a week ago in a ditch by a woman walking her own dogs, is currently at the Eastern Townships animal protection society shelter in Cowansville.

He's since been renamed Orville.

Orville was shot in the back of the head with a .22 calibre gun before being left in the ditch.

“X-rays show the bullet exploded in his head, so it can’t be taken out,” said shelter spokesman Carl Girard.

The young dog is making a good recovery and is up for adoption.

No one has come forward with information about the shooting.

However, Girard expects that to change because of the publicity the case is getting on social media.
