Downtown Myrtle Beach, SC, road to close. Here’s how long it will be shut down to drivers

Part of Oak Street in Myrtle Beach will close until the end of the month for preparation of the state’s U.S. 501 realignment project.

Oak Street will close Thursday from Sixth Avenue North to Main Street. The closure is expected to last until the end of July.

Seventh and Sixth avenues North will remain open, but drivers will not be able to cross Oak Street. Detour signs will be posted.

Crews are working on the next round of Arts & Innovation District infrastructure projects before the South Carolina Department of Transportation begins its Highway 501 realignment at Broadway Street.
