Drew Barrymore Brings Back 'My Boyfriend Is Out of Town' T-Shirt She Wore to“ Charlie’s Angels 2 ”Premiere in 2003
“For whatever reason I was like, I don’t want to wear a dress, I just want to put on my T-shirt,” Barrymore remembered of her famous slogan tee (if you know, you know)
Drew Barrymore is reviving the slogan T-shirt (again).
In a video posted to The Drew Barrymore Show's social media on Friday, the actress, 49, brought back one of her most iconic looks, a.k.a. the grungy ”My boyfriend is out of town” baby tee she wore to the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle premiere in 2003.
“I bought it in a vintage store in the East Village in New York,” Barrymore explained in the video while wearing a boxier version of the baby tee.
She was with her then-boyfriend, The Strokes drummer, Fabrizio “Fabi” Moretti, when she purchased the shirt, which she conveniently pulled out of her closet the night of the red carpet event.
"For whatever reason, I was like, I don’t want to wear a dress, I just want to put on my T-shirt. Then somebody found me a hot pair of leather pants and I said, I think that’s how I need to go to the premiere,” she added.
Back then, she teamed the snarky tee with a crescent moon necklace and metallic green eyeshadow heavily rimmed with eyeliner.
Meanwhile, her costars Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz glammed up in more formal dresses — Liu in a bedazzled black frock and Diaz in a sexy dark turquoise one-shoulder number.

Before she even stepped onto the carpet, Barrymore was snapped wearing the T-shirt and holding up a bottle and glass of Champagne as she and Diaz walked to the premiere (a very New Yorkian thing to do, by the way).
“I had hired an old-school bus with Christmas lights and hanging rubber chickens to take us there! And I was like ‘trust me! This is going to be so fun to show up in! And then it broke down! Literally ‘smoking from the hood’ broke,” Barrymore revealed of how the moment came to be in a 2020 Instagram post.
“Good times,” she recalled when reminiscing about the famous photo in a November 2022 episode of her talk show.
