Sweater weather is coming to South Florida this weekend as spring break comes to an end, forecasters say.

Will temperature lows hit the 50s in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties?

What’s behind the cold snap?

Behind a cold front, high pressure coming from the northwest will bring cooler and drier conditions to South Florida for the end of the week and into the weekend.

How cold will it get Friday?

Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach will start Friday with temperatures in the lower-60s and 10 to 15 mph winds.

Farther inland, including the Homestead and Weston areas, lows should be near 60 or colder. And southwest of Lake Okeechobee in Palm Beach County, lows are forecast in the high-50s.

The chilly morning is expected to be followed by a sunny day, with highs in the upper-70s. Wind speeds should gradually decrease into the night.

Will Saturday be any colder?

On Saturday morning, lows should be in the lower-60s, with 5 to 10 mph winds through most of South Florida. But in the areas near Weston and southwest of Lake Okeechobee, lows are forecast in the upper-50s.

The chilly temperatures are expected to be followed by another sunny day, with highs in the upper-70s and 5 to 10 mph winds.

Saturday night is anticipated to bring mostly clear skies and decreasing winds.

Is Sunday expected to be any different?

A warm-up is anticipated Sunday across South Florida, with lows in the low- to mid-60s. But southwest of Lake Okeechobee, lows should be near 60.

Then expect mostly clear skies, with highs in the low-80s.

Is it safe to go to the beach?

Hazardous marine conditions will continue this weekend across the Atlantic coast.

A risk of hazardous to life-threatening rip currents will remain through Monday and swimming is not recommended.

Captains of small boats should exercise caution through Friday as seas equal or greater than seven feet are expected.
