EastEnders’ Yolande Trueman outraged by Pastor Clayton’s lies

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has seen Yolande Trueman left outraged after Pastor Clayton lied to Patrick about her withdrawn behaviour, ahead of Tuesday's special episode.

Tonight's (May 6) episode saw Patrick turn to the Pastor for advice on Yolande's increasingly distant behaviour, unaware that she had been sexually assaulted by him.

Patrick and Denzel were left concerned after witnessing Yolande's withdrawn behaviour, with Sonia later revealing that she'd failed to show up for a medical appointment.

After learning that Yolande wouldn't be attending the unveiling of the food van she'd worked on, Denise suggested to Patrick that he approach Pastor Clayton for advice on how to get her to open up.

Following the unveiling of the food van, Patrick seized the opportunity to ask Pastor Clayton for advice in the Vic.

After hearing Patrick's concerns, the Pastor seized the opportunity to plant seeds of doubt about Yolande's wellbeing in his mind.

"I've seen it before, especially in older ladies. They can get agitated, confused, say inappropriate things," he said, suggesting that Yolande could be experiencing early onset dementia.

Meanwhile Elaine comforted Yolande upstairs, with Yolande admitting the assault had left her feeling like she'd lost her independence.

"I don't want to talk about it but I can think of nothing else," she said. "Is this who I am now? Is this what he's done to me?"

After receiving advice from Alfie, Patrick approached Yolande and shared his concerns about her potentially having dementia – leaving her horrified at the Pastor's latest attempt at manipulation.

"Patrick I am not sick," she insisted. "I don't have dementia."

However when Patrick pressed for the reason behind Yolande's changed behaviour she struggled to answer, unable to get her words out. Will Yolande be able to open up in tomorrow's two-hander episode?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
