Elderly man, woman found dead in Rothesay house

Kennebecasis Regional Police are investigating the deaths of an elderly man and woman whose bodies were found Thursday night in a residence on Gondola Point Road in Rothesay.

The woman's death was a homicide, said Det. Sgt. Craig MacDougall of the Kennebecasis Regional Police criminal investigations division.

He said they are not seeking any suspects, and the public is not at risk.

The man and woman were related, and their bodies were found in their home, MacDougall said, but he would not confirm their identities.

Cecil Ellis, who lives next door, said the couple had lived there a long time.

"They were good friends and good neighbours," he said. "I used to talk to them all the time. They were great, wonderful. I just can't believe they're gone, I really can't."

Ellis said the man had problems with his leg, making it nearly impossible for him to get around.

"I felt so bad for the man, but that's what happens when you get old."

The force's criminal Investigations division is continuing the investigation.
