'Election on tap' encourages young voters' interest

Young Voters of PEI is encouraging voters to be more interested in the results of Monday's provincial election.

The group has organized an event called Election on Tap at The Pourhouse in Charlottetown.

A big-screen television has been set up for younger voters interested in watching election results with their peers.

"If you sit and watch the results with someone and they're incredibly excited or incredibly sad about a result, you can talk to them and say, 'Well why are you supporting that party or that person?' And they might say something that you wouldn't have thought about otherwise," said Jeese Hitchcock, one of the event's organizers.

"It's kind of more casual and more fun we think," she said.

Hitchcock said supporters of all political parties are invited to attend Monday's event. More than 100 people have confirmed that they plan to attend, including some of the candidates.
