Emmerdale's Arthur Thomas comforted by Laurel as Marshall exits show

Emmerdale has aired sad exit scenes for Marshall Hamston, leaving Arthur Thomas heartbroken.
Following recent reports that Max Fletcher would be leaving the show, his character Marshall officially bowed out in Thursday's (July 20) double bill to go live with his aunt.
Marshall had recently been bickering a lot with Arthur, making it somewhat difficult for the other members of the Thomas-Sharma family living at Mulberry Cottage.

The boys were at odds during Jai's stag celebrations, leading Marshall to walk out on Arthur in the middle of the party. Jai later caught Marshall looking up colleges in Formby and questioned whether he was happy.
Marshall thanked Jai for letting him stay, but said when he was reunited with his aunt recently, it just "felt right". He also confided in Jai that he didn't want to go out with Arthur anymore.
"You better tell him then," Jai encouraged.
Marshall later opened up to Arthur, explaining that he hadn't been happy for "ages" but kept it to himself so he wouldn't hurt Arthur.

Arthur was heartbroken to hear that Marshall was finishing with him, though Marshall insisted he still wanted to be friends.
As Marshall later packed up to leave with his aunt, he promised Laurel this is what he really wanted. He shared one last hug with a tearful Arthur, telling him that he'd truly miss him.
Following the emotional farewell, Laurel comforted her son — assuring him that the heartache he was feeling was all part of growing up.

"You'll fall in love again, I know you will. Then, you'll wonder what all this was about," Laurel told him.
While Marshall has now exited the show, his evil father Colin will soon be reappearing in an attempt to ruin Nicola King's community project to remodel the bus stop.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
