Emmerdale's Tom torments Belle again ahead of special episode

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has revealed a first look at Tom and Belle King's next scenes.

The couple are currently on a short break from our screens while other key storylines take centre stage, including Matty Barton's prison ordeal and baby Evan's leukaemia.

New spoiler pictures have now confirmed that Tom and Belle will reappear on screen on Friday next week (July 19).

As the couple's domestic abuse story is revisited, viewers will see Tom continue to torment Belle over her decision to have a termination.

Belle chose to end her pregnancy last month, determined that it wasn't the right time to start a family with Tom. Fearful of Tom's reaction, she initially lied that she'd suffered a miscarriage but he later pressured her to share the truth.

Next week, Tom cruelly tries to make Belle feel guilty for her decision. With Belle's self-confidence already crumbling following months of abuse from Tom, she's sure to be affected by his manipulative words.

Tom also carries on plotting in secret, aiming to make a permanent move to Wales after applying for a new job there. He hopes this will be the final step to distance Belle from the support of her family.

Emmerdale's new producer Sophie Roper recently announced that Tom's plan is building up to another special episode of the ITV soap.

Roper commented: "We've got a special episode coming up that sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip away together.

"Actually, we recreated Wales in Yorkshire! Our fantastic design team [did it]. We've got a cottage up in the village, which we've re-dressed and made this beautiful Welsh retreat. So it's really fantastic, the lengths they've gone to, to create that within our world.

"The story of course, though, set to the backdrop of this beautiful cottage will be really hard-hitting and difficult at moments.

"Tom is very much isolating Belle from her family, from her surroundings, from everything she knows and loves, which is very much unfortunately a typical trait of abusers and people who are trying to isolate their victim from their family.

"So it will be difficult drama but a really important message and really important story that we're keen to continue to tell."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
