Employee at Wichita gun store injured when another employee accidentally fires gun: police

An employee at a Wichita gun store was injured when another employee accidentally fired a handgun, according to police.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to a police report. The accidental discharge happened at 3:33 p.m. Sunday at The Bullet Stop on Pawnee near Meridian, police said.

“It’s just a piece of glass that maybe touched him,” said an employee who rushed off the phone Wednesday, saying he needed to help customers. “He’s absolutely fine. Nothing but a tiny scratch.”

A 47-year-old got a small laceration to the right side of his face when a 33-year-old man accidentally fired one round while getting the gun off a shelf, police said.

Both men live in Wichita and work at the store.

The family-owned business repairs and sells guns, sells ammunition and offers a gun range and firearm classes.
