Essex County OPP seek suspect after man in vehicle approaches young girl

Essex OPP are seeking the public's help after a 12-year-old girl walking to school was allegedly approached by a man in a vehicle who asked her to get into the car.

Police say the incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of Sunset Drive in Harrow.

The man, described as being in his 50s with balding grey hair and a deep voice, was driving what police describe as an older, champagne-coloured four-door sedan. It was last seen turning onto King Street from Sunset.

The man allegedly asked the young girl to get into the car but she refused and ran to school, where staff contacted police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Essex County Provincial Major Crime Unit at 519-723-2491.
