Who will be the one and only team to win Euro 2024? BBC Sport has asked 22 musicians for their predictions [BBC Sport]

The big kick-off is here!

Euro 2024 starts on Friday, with 24 teams battling it out over the next 31 days, but who will be crowned European champions when it ends?

BBC pundits, statisticians and readers have already had their say - now it's time for some of the music industry's finest to predict what will happen, and how England and Scotland will do.

Singer Chesney Hawkes

Who will win Euro 2024? England, of course... unless we lose to Germany on penalties, as that is always a huge possibility.

Who will be the star player? The most in-form player in the world at the moment is Phil Foden and this is his moment to shine, he is a generational talent. As a West Ham fan I will always have a soft spot for my boy Declan [Rice], but I am actually most excited about Jarrod Bowen. I’ve seen him play week in, week out and he will bring something very special to the squad.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Paul Gascoigne's goal and celebration versus Scotland at Euro '96. I was there - an incredible goal and iconic celebration by one of my all-time favourite players.

Singer Ella Henderson

Who will win Euro 2024? England to win it! Hopefully we get to the final and bring it home.

Who will be the star player? It’s impossible to chose one. Jude Bellingham is an amazing player but Cole Palmer is a rising star and underdog.

What's your favourite Euros moment? This summer - under the sun in a pub garden watching England win it with friends.

Rapper Chiedu Oraka

Who will win Euro 2024? France have everything: the best player in the world right now in Mbappe, a manager in Didier Deschamps who has won a major international trophy, and a squad with strength in depth (Saliba can’t even get in their starting 11), and they seem to thrive during the big moments.

How will England and Scotland do? England's attacking options are frightening but I think the semi-final is the best they can do. Unfortunately, Scotland won’t make it out of the group stage.

Who will be the star player? If Gareth Southgate starts him, Anthony Gordon could be a real threat down England’s left-hand side. His club form with Newcastle this season has been tremendous, and he would terrify any countries defence with his pace and directness. Come on Southgate, give my boy a chance!

What's your favourite Euros moment? Euro '96 and probably the greatest-ever international goal I've ever witnessed. The outlaw Gazza kicks it over Colin Hendry's head with his left foot, and then when it drops, he smashes it with his right foot. What a finish, and what a celebration!

Travis bassist Dougie Payne

Who will win Euro 2024? England. The squad is pretty incredible. It seems like a happy camp and a team where they can play with a bit of freedom and self-expression.

How will Scotland do? I’m feeling cautiously optimistic. Obviously Germany are favourites to win the group but I think we could get results against Switzerland and Hungary. So, I reckon we might actually get out the group. Which would be incredible. And a first!

Who will be the star player? It’s a bit obvious but I feel like it's going to be between Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. I really hope Bellingham has a great tournament. I just love watching him play.

What's your favourite Euros moment? All of Euro '96. The band had just moved to London and it felt like the centre of the world. The sun was shining, Scotland were there and the whole thing was just joyous. Even that unbelievable Gazza goal couldn't dampen our spirits!

Rappers Aitch & Luciano

Who will win Euro 2024?

Aitch: England

Luciano: Germany

Who will be the star player?

Aitch: Kobbie Mainoo

Luciano: Antonio Rudiger

What's your favourite Euros moment?

Aitch: Doing the soundtrack for England when they got to the finals at the last Euros.

Luciano: I hope that my favourite moment comes from Germany this year!

Singer Nina Nesbitt

Who will win Euro 2024? Scotland will win it.

Who will be the star player? John McGinn.

What's your favourite Euros moment? It will be sitting in a pub garden with a pint of cider watching Scotland play.

The Snuts drummer Jordan MacKay

Who will win Euro 2024? As much as I'd love to say Scotland, I think France will take the crown.

How will Scotland do? Would love to see us make it out the groups.

Who will be the star player? From the season he has already had at club level, Phil Foden is the man to look out for.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Not old enough to have seen it live but Marco van Basten’s famous volley in 1988 against the Soviet Union must be up there.

Anna and Emily from Friedberg

Who will win Euro 2024? Germany

How will Austria do? Austria are stronger than they have been in a long time. They are in such a tough group with France and Netherlands, and it will be really hard to make it out but historically, they always play best when they are the underdog, so who knows...

Who will be the star player? If England play well as a unit, Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold will shine, especially with Trent playing in a midfield position.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Somehow events like the Euros bring everyone together in a special way.

Bring Me The Horizon drummer Mat Nicholls

Who will win Euro 2024? I'll stick my neck out and say England. Offensively we are probably in the best shape we've ever been in, it's just the defence that looks a little weak due to injuries and whatnot. But we've got to keep the faith, right?

Who will be the star player? The obvious answers point to Mbappe and Bellingham. Jamal Musiala is top drawer and you can't ignore the seasons Foden and Cole Palmer have had either. But I'll go with Musiala as the tournament is in Germany and they’ll be right behind their team.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Euro '96. I was 10 at the time and my mum worked behind the bar at our local working men's club and they made a proper day of the Scotland game. Bouncy castles, BBQ, the lot. The sun was out and everyone was in the mood. Gazza scores and the rest is history.

The LaFontaines drummer Jamie Keenan

Who will win Euro 2024? My wager is on Croatia this year. I'm not long back from Zadar where Luka Modric is from and witnessed first-hand young guys in a car park playing the beautiful game quite beautifully. While I must ponder that this was not the first team in training, it gave me a sense of anticipation for the Croats.

How will Scotland do? I'm certain they will make the semi-finals and get pipped to the post by a promising Albania.

Who will be the star player? Callum Styles, also known as the Beast of Barnsley, is a young, versatile player who plays for Hungary. I recently had the pleasure of watching him a few months ago and can see him making some great plays.

What's your favourite Euros moment? My favourite ever moment was in 2021 when we absolutely annihilated England in a goalless draw. Campeones!

Who will win Euro 2024? England. Silly question!

Who will be the star player? Jude Bellingham or Cole Palmer, both doing incredible things at their age, I might lean more towards Palmer just because he's a Chelsea boy.

What's your favourite Euros moment? At Euro 2020 and either us beating Germany 2-0 or when Luke Shaw scored early doors in the final against Italy. I was at both games, although the second one was followed by that heartache feeling in Wembley that I don’t know if I've felt since. I was sitting next to the boxer Tony Bellew and when we scored, he lifted my mate up with excitement (who isn't small by the way).

Ross and Sam from Twin Atlantic

Who will win Euro 2024? Scotland. We're going to win, we're Scotland.

Who will be the star player? King of Scotland, John McGinn.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Scotland beating Spain 2-0 in the qualifiers for these Euros and the Spanish players crying about the grass being too long afterwards!

Hard-Fi frontman Richard Archer

Who will win Euro 2024? England will win. Well, you have to manifest it right? Or hang on - could I be jinxing it!? Who knows, we certainly have the players to win it, all we need is a little bit of luck and a few things to go our way.

Who will be the star player? Ivan Toney. Yes everyone will say Mbappe and I am excited to see Jude Bellingham, but Ivan will be Brentford's first senior player to feature for England at a major tournament and I can't believe that's not what every pundit will be talking about.

What's your favourite Euros moment? England versus the Dutch at Euro '96 - everything just clicked in a 4-1 victory, where we demolished a Netherlands side containing some world-class players. One of the few times I've seen England purr. Wouldn't it be great to see them purr again? Like a big fat cat with a bowl full of cream - all the way to winning the trophy and setting us up for the next World Cup, because let's be honest that's the one that matters isn't it? Come on England!

Grime MC Capo Lee

Who will win Euro 2024? Spain. I always like to root for the underdogs slyly.

How will England do? They will get to the semis.

Who will be the star player? Cole Palmer.

What's your favourite Euros moment? Paul Gascoigne’s goal against Scotland 1996. I remember this goal as a kid and going to the park to try to recreate it.

Rapper K-Trap

Who will win Euro 2024? England. It’s coming home!

Who will be the star player? Bukayo Saka.

What's your favourite Euros moment? When everyone comes together for the spirit of the tournament.

Bria Keely from Better Joy

Who will win Euro 2024? Portugal and France look strong but I have to go with my heart and say England - we’ve got to bring it home!

Who will be the star player? For England, I'll go with Jude Bellingham off the back of his Champions League win, and he's just class. I've also got to back my favourite, Phil Foden - especially if he plays the way he has done for Manchester City this season.

What's your favourite Euros moment? I'd probably say two minutes into the last final after Luke Shaw scored - what a moment. It's just a shame it ended in the way it did.

86TVs guitarist Felix White

Who will win Euro 2024? England. We have to one day, don't we? They probably won’t win it now I've said that.

Who will be the star player? Bukayo Saka, for fans of cinematic narrative arcs.

What's your favourite Euros moment? My first football memory is Gary Lineker being substituted for Alan Smith when England were knocked out in 1992. I don't know why, but I cried. It provoked something inside me that I didn't know was there and forewarned me how emotional football was going to make me from that point on.

Singer Nathan Evans

Who will win the Euros? I’m dreaming of a Scotland masterclass! But I really like the look of Portugal or France this year. Both solid teams, so I'll go with either of those.

How will Scotland do? Hoping the boys go out there and smash it. I'm thinking if we don't top the group, we should definitely get second place, I believe!

Who will be the star player? Oh, tough question! I'm going to say Mbappe. He's just signed to Real Madrid, he's going to be flying and will want to prove a point before the start of the season, so I reckon Mbappe.

What's your favourite Euros moment? My favourite moments has got to be this time, watching the Scotland boys qualify. It's been an amazing run so far and hopefully they can carry it on into the rest of the tournament.

Singer Maddox Jones

Who will win Euro 2024? England will win Euro 2024. I'm an optimist, and I really think this could be our time. We can learn from the experience of previous tournament heartache and come out on top in those difficult moments.

Who will be the star player? Jude Bellingham is a generational talent and I feel like he is going to light up the tournament. Mbappe always impresses but I think it's Bellingham's time.

What's your favourite Euros moment? It has to be when Luke Shaw scored in the final against Italy last time around. I was in the Black Prince pub garden in my hometown of Northampton and for a moment there, we all thought we were on the road to win the tournament. I hope we can do it all again and go one step further.
