Eurovision Song Contest 2024: tonight's semi-final 1 running order revealed

The semi-final running orders for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest have been revealed.

This year's semi-final will take place today (Tuesday, May 7) with coverage kicking off at 8pm for the UK.

The "Big Five" nations—the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain—usually do not have to compete in the semi-finals since they have already earned a spot in the grand final. This is due to the fact that these nations' broadcasters rank among those whose annual financial contributions to Eurovision are the highest. This year, though, every nation will compete in both semi-finals, even those where a spot is certain, like Sweden, the victors from last year.

Following Thursday, May 9, 2024's semi-final 2, the producing broadcaster will determine the grand final's running order. Each qualifying nation will be assigned a draw to determine whether they advance to the first or second round. The final will include 10 best from the first and the second semi-final as well as Sweden and the Big 5.

It is confirmed that Sweden will play song number one in the final.

The competition, which is being produced by Swedish broadcaster SVT, will take place in Malmö, Sweden.
