Evil: 4 Fiendishly Fun Scoops to Kick Off the Final Season
Happy Evil Season 4 premiere day to all who celebrate!
Paramount+’s supernatural drama returns today for its supersized final season, a run of 14 episodes that will roll out weekly on the streaming service. And to get you in the malevolent mood, we’ve rounded up some infernally fun teases straight from those crafty devils in the cast.

But first, a quick refresher. At the end of Season 3, Kristen was shocked to learn that Leland was going to become a father… and that his pregnant partner’s baby was conceived using Kristen’s ova. In other news, Andy returned to his family — who temporarily thought that he’d died in an avalanche while mountain climbing — but something about him was very off. Sister Andrea toured Kristen’s home and realized it was infested with demons. And David had a vision of an angel who told him, “38 days, woe to Babylon.” (Read a finale recap and hear what series co-creator/executive producer Robert King had to say about the episode, then check out our Season 3 review at the top of this post.)
Now that you’re all caught up, read on as Katja Herbers, Mike Colter and Aasif Mandvi dish some sinfully good scoop about what’s ahead for Kristen, David and Ben.
Kristen Has Her ‘Most Rational Season’
Despite everything Kristen has seen, and even though she now knows that Leland stole her egg for his own nefarious purposes, “I feel like this is her most rational season,” Herbers tells TVLine. “She’s just decided it all doesn’t affect her… until it does.” The actress admits that even she doesn’t know how her character has been able to withstand everything she’s had to go through in the past several years — with long stints as an effectively single mother to four girls at the top of the list. “When I really think about what happened to her, I’m amazed she’s still standing,” Herbers says, chuckling. “But I’m sure she’ll collapse again at some point again.”
Ben Tries to ‘Science His Way to Understanding’ Something Personal
In the season premiere, something happens to Ben that determines the trajectory of his storyline for quite some time. While we can’t tell you exactly what happens, we — and Mandvi — can tell you that it deeply affects the usually unflappable Mr. Shakir. “Ben is trying to science his way to understanding this phenomenon that’s happening to him. So all the science that he’s been applying to all kinds of things over the course of this whole show, he’s now applying to himself to understand what this supernatural phenomenon is happening inside his own [Spoiler].” And while Ben may or may not avail himself of the Super Secret Science League’s expertise, Mandvi adds that Karima (played by Sohina Sidhu) definitely will be back later in the season.
David Taps Into a New ‘Gift’
Remember how, at the end of the Season 3 finale, the Book of Demons in the credits became the Book of Angels? Colter teases that “the angelic presence that we felt before takes the shape of someone much more familiar” in the new episodes. (Full disclosure: We’re not exactly sure what he’s talking about, but we’re comforted by the idea of some heavenly hosts helping out this season.) In other news, David realizes he’s got “almost like a superpower,” Colter says. He smiles. “It’s a real gift. And so, in some ways, he gets to be somewhat like an angel.”
‘The Net Has to Come Down’
In Season 3, on Sister Andrea’s suggestion, David strung up a mosquito net around his bed to keep the pest-like, demonic version of Kristen out of his thoughts (and away from his… soul). When we chat with Colter, though, we wonder whether the net might develop a few holes in Season 4? “The net has to come down,” he says, laughing. “It’s like anything else. It’s like, we know in the wintertime, if we don’t turn our humidifier on, we don’t have good skin at night. But do we always turn the humidifier on? Do we fall asleep and sometimes we forget to put our mouthguards in? Yeah! So it’s like, you forget every once in a while. You drop the ball. And I’m sure he’s not perfect.” He shakes his head. “He forgets to put up the net sometimes.”
