Exchange District's Clementine Café nominated for enRoute list of Canada's best new restaurants

Exchange District brunch spot Clementine Café has been nominated for enRoute magazine's annual list of Canada's best new restaurants.

Clementine, which opened on Princess Street in 2016, is the only Winnipeg restaurant among 30 on a long list for the 2017 edition of the magazine's annual compilation, its publisher announced in a press release. The final list of 10 new restaurants will be unveiled in October.

The only Winnipeg restaurant to crack the top 10 list was Corydon Avenue small-plates restaurant Enoteca, which enRoute ranked No. 9 among new Canadian restaurants in 2015.

Its sister restaurant Máquè was on the long list in 2016 but did not make the final cut.

This year, seven Toronto restaurants, five Montreal establishments and four each in Edmonton and Vancouver are on the long list. Two Calgary restaurants are nominated, as are one each in Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, London, Ont., Winnipeg, the Calgary bedroom community of Airdrie, Alta., Vancouver-area resort town Squamish, B.C. and the Cowichan Valley hamlet of Malahat, B.C.
