Family of missing St. Albert boater asking for public's help
The family of a St. Albert man who was last seen boating on Lake Okanagan Tuesday are asking the public for help after the RCMP called off their search for him.
Brian Lakevold and his family spend time in Kelowna every summer. Last week, the 64-year-old went for a boat ride on Lake Okanagan and never returned.
Lakevold’s boat — a maroon and white Malibu LXI — was found Tuesday night when another boat ran into it. The lights on the boat were off, and keys and other personal items belonging to Lakevold were found on board.
RCMP and search and rescue officials spent three days searching the lake. They found no signs of Lakevold and suspended the search Friday.
Lakevold’s family is now asking anyone who was on Lake Okanagan on Tuesday to look at their photos, in the hopes that someone captured a shot of the man on his boat.
The family says that information is critical in convincing the RCMP resume their search.
Lakevold was a financial planner who worked at his own company in Edmonton.
