Ferndale man in county jail facing rape charge; accused of supplying drugs, alcohol to victim
A Whatcom County man accused of rape has been arrested and remains in custody.
Ferndale police received a report of a sexual assault on Feb. 23, which led to the arrest of Esteban Reina, 24, of Ferndale.
The person who submitted the report told police they were raped by Reina, who provided drugs and alcohol prior to the assault, according to Megan Juenemann with the city of Ferndale.
The alleged victim told police Reina forced them to have sex against their will after initially rejecting him.
After a Ferndale Police Department investigation into the allegations, probable cause was developed to arrest Reina for second-degree rape. Reina was booked into Whatcom County Jail on March 19, and he remained in custody as of March 20.
