A large cloud of smoke can be seen from the water. Officials say the fire is 1.5 hectares in size but so far has not threatened any buildings.
Coastal Fire says 20 people are on the scene fighting the fire as well as two helicopters.
The fire risk is high in Sechelt and the winds are blowing at 50 km/hr in the area, making for a volatile situation.
