Firearms seizures at Ambassador Bridge tops in Southern Ontario
More guns were seized at the Ambassador Bridge than any other crossing in southern Ontario in the second half of 2015, according to the Canadian Border Service Agency.
The CBSA reports seizing 59 guns and 121 prohibited weapons at the Ambassador Bridge between July and December last year. Another 12 firearms and 40 prohibited weapons were seized at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel.
The number of weapons found at border crossings in Windsor contributed to the overall figures for southern Ontario, which had the most firearm seizures in Canada for that time period.
The border service agency reports seizing 163 firearms during 115 incidents from travellers crossing the border into Canada through Windsor, Sarnia, London, Fort Erie and Niagara Falls.
The amount of firearms seized at the Ambassador Bridge is almost double the next highest crossing. That's at Fort Erie, Ont. where 31 firearms were seized.
The fewest firearms were seized at the Queenston Bridge in Queenston, Ont. where officers seized 11 firearms.
The numbers were released as part of a report detailing CBSA activities during the last half of 2015. It also includes information about drug and currency seizures.
Between July and December agents seized:

83.8 kilograms of cocaine in 26 cocaine seizures.

There were also:
