First Presidential debate: How old are Joe Biden and Donald Trump?

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to face off on stage Thursday night in the first debate of the 2024 Presidential election.

The presumptive nominees combine for the highest average age on the night of the first presidential debate and if either candidate wins in November, they will become the oldest person to take the oath of office.

Voters' feelings about the coverage of the candidates age are split down partisan lines, according to a poll released by Pew Research in May. Pew found that 46% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say that media organizations are undercovering Trump's age while 48% of Republicans said that Biden's age is under covered.

The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal published a combined 76 articles on Biden's age while publishing a combined seven articles on Donald Trump's age from January 15 through June 17, a study conducted by Media Matters for America found. The study found that USA TODAY published five stories on Biden's age and three on Trump's.

Here are the candidates' ages and birthdates.

Donald J. Trump age, birthday

Trump was born on June 14, 1946. He is 78 years old.

Joe Biden age, birthday

Biden was born on November 20, 1942. He is 81 years old.

When is the first Presidential debate?

The "CNN Presidential Debate" is scheduled for Thursday at 9 p.m ET/6 p.m. PT. It will air on CNN and be hosted by network personalities Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
