Flash flooding causes problems near Chinook Centre

A storm caused some flash flooding in south Calgary, tying up traffic during the afternoon commute.

Glenmore Trail near 1A Street S.E. across from Chinook Centre became awash with rain and then the sewers started spewing water.

Flash flooding was also reported on streets in other areas near the mall, including the neighbourhood of Fairview.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi tweeted: "There is some minor flash flooding/power outages as a result of a sudden storm in SW Calgary. Situation should resolve in next little while."

Many Calgarians took to Twitter to share shots of the storm.
