Football returning to Uxbridge Secondary

Uxbridge Secondary School Tigers’ football willbe back on the field this September.

Earlier this year, the Restore The Roar fundraising campaign was launched to resurrect and support a new Uxbridge Tigers’ football program.

“We received over 90 donations from USS alumni, community members, local businesses and service clubs,” says campaign organizer Michael Kerford. “We exceeded our $50,000 target by the June 15 deadline, and raised a total of $52,715. The Uxbridge Optimist Club provided the final $5,000 donation to get us ‘over the line’.”

The campaign had six “Grey Cup” level donors, donating $5,000 or more. These donors include: the Uxbridge Optimist Club, APEX Financial Management, Seasons Trust, Williamson Uxbridge Automotive, Andy Luukkonen, and Michael Kerford.

Reaching this goal confirms that Uxbridge Tigers football will return with a Junior Team commencing in September 2024, and the Senior Team returning in September 2026.

“Special thanks to the Uxbridge Secondary School, including Principal Melissa Lee for their support, encouragement, and collaboration” says Kerford.

Work is currently underway to finalize the uniform design, order equipment, build a coaching staff and plan for the September season, with an Uxbridge Tigers football homecoming scheduled for Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.

Kerford says that “the outpouring of support and encouragement from the community has been overwhelming and it highlights the passion that Uxbridge has for Tigers football!”
