Former Neighbours star Olympia Valance has responded to the show's upcoming revival after her appearance in last year's then-final episodes.

The actress famously played the role of Paige Smith on the Australian soap, and came back in 2022 when the show was initially axed. However, the series has since been revived by Amazon Freevee, with new episodes set to premiere in September.

Reacting to the reboot news, Olympia told Daily Mail Australia: "I think it’s really great that it’s been picked up again.

"It’s such a great show for all ages. But it’s also such a great training ground for young Australian actors that are starting out."

The star further reflected: "It was such a great opportunity for me and so many other Aussie actors starting out in the industry. I'm happy that it gets to continue for more people too."

The soap's revival will see some familiar faces return, and is introducing some new ones too, including the Varga-Murphy family, comprising of mums Remi and Cara and teenage sons JJ and Dex.

Meanwhile, last week Olympia took to social media to reveal that her and husband Tom Bellchambers tragically suffered a miscarriage two years ago.

“Thomas and I miscarried twins right in the middle of COVID, which, as you can imagine, was excruciatingly painful," she said in an Instagram video.

"Ever since then, we haven’t been able to conceive – it’s been two years of really trying,” Olympia added, while also outlining her plan to utilise IVF treatment.

Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
