Fort Worth officers save kidnapped girl, arrest suspect after chase ends in crash: police

Officers rescued a girl who was kidnapped from a Fort Worth home during a robbery early Friday morning and arrested a suspect following a brief chase that ended in a crash, police said. Investigators are still searching for one suspect.

The incident began about 2 a.m., when police were called to the 6700 block of Golden Grove Road about a robbery and kidnapping, police said in a news release. A 911 caller said that a young female victim had been taken at gunpoint by two male suspects.

Officers learned that the suspects had gone into the home, abducted the victim and “took off in two stolen vehicles,” police said.

At 2:51 a.m., police found one of the stolen cars and tried to stop it. The driver led officers in a brief pursuit that ended when the stolen car crashed near the intersection of I-35W and Sycamore School Road in south Fort Worth, police said.

The driver ran, and officers were able to take him into custody. The victim was found safe inside the car, and she was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, police said.

The suspect, who is a juvenile, was taken to the Scott D. Moore Juvenile Justice Center. He faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police are still searching for the second suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tarrant County CrimeStoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477) or www.469TIPS.com
