Fredericton barbershop offers men the royal treament

The newest business on the barbershop scene is offering Fredericton men the royal treatment.

Robert Reese, owner of The Royal Barbershop on King Street, said his business gives clients a classic barbershop experience with a modern feel.

"It's more than just a haircut. It's a place where you can get a hot shave, a face massage, a shoe shine, and we even offer premium cigars for sale," said Reese.

Originally from Nashville, T.N., Reese has been involved in the entertainment business since 1985 where he was a part of the bar scene in Las Vegas.

Reese made the shift to the barbershop business in 2012 and moved his family to Canada after his wife became pregnant.

"When I first got [to Fredericton], I noticed there wasn't a place I could go and get a hot shave," Reese said.

"There's a few barbershops here but they're not offering the barbershop experience that we are."

Reese's shop, which opened Aug. 1 has three registered barbers on staff, serves a range of age groups. He said everyone is welcome.

"Business has been phenomenal. The community has been very welcoming and supportive. Every day we're getting busier and busier."
