Funnel cloud advisories that had been issued in the Calgary area by Environment Canada have ended.
Earlier in the day, the agency said in a release that conditions were favourable for the development of funnel clouds.
Communities like Airdrie, Brooks, Cochrane, Drumheller, Innisfail, Red Deer, Olds, Ponoka, Stettler, Strathmore and Sundre were included in the statement.
"These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado."
