G-Eazy Responded to Rumors About Dating Demi Lovato
It looks like "De-Eazy" is over before it ever truly began. A few days after Demi Lovato and G-Eazy were reportedly spotted holding hands at a Los Angeles club, the rapper has denied that the duo are dating. In fact, he says Demi is "just a friend."
"It's just one of those things that comes with the territory. You trade in your anonymity in exchange for some of your success in the public eye," he told Entertainment Tonight regarding intense fan interest in his dating life, specifically about speculation regarding a possible romance with Demi. "You have to remember the blessings and remember how grateful you are to be here in the first place and understand some of that is just what comes with the territory."
This rumor has come at pretty tumultuous time for both Demi and G-Eazy, for rather different reasons. The rapper recently split with his girlfriend, Halsey, who's been both cryptic and forthcoming about the reason behind the breakup. "I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel the need to inform my fans. G-Eazy and I are taking some time apart. I'm eager to continue the upcoming passage of time by dedicating myself to my art and my career, and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best. Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time," she wrote in one Instagram post, only to tweet "pumpkin eater" a few days later, leading some fans to believe she was referring to being cheated on. (Remember the old saying, "cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater?")
Meanwhile, Demi recently admitted in her poignant new song "Sober" that she relapsed after abstaining from drugs and alcohol for over six years. "Tonight I took the stage, a new person with a new life," she later wrote after performing the song live for the first time. "Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. It will never be forgotten."
