Gander's Brad Peyton directs Hollywood blockbuster starring The Rock

A man from central Newfoundland is at the helm of a major Holywood blockbuster that is set to hit theatres in a few months.

Brad Peyton of Gander directed the $100 million dollar movie San Andreas, which will premiere May 29.

The movie starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Paul Giamatti is about a group of people trying to survive a massive earthquake that hits California along the infamous San Andreas Fault.

Peyton is steadily making a name for himself in Hollywood, having directed several films. In 2013 he directed four episodes of CBC's Republic of Doyle back in his province of Newfoundland and Labrador..

Peyton has worked with The Rock before, when he directed Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon.

Some of his other projects as director include Incarnate, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and What It's Like Being Alone.
