Gas station robbed by man with knife 3 times in 2 days, police say

After a Winnipeg gas station was robbed three times in two days, a 45-year-old man has been arrested, police say.

A man went into the gas station in the 2200 block of Pembina Highway armed with a knife on Friday afternoon. He demanded money before fleeing the scene.

The next day at around 12:30 p.m. a man went into the same gas station with a knife again.

Not long after, a nearby drugstore was also robbed by a man with a knife.

About 15 minutes after the drugstore robbery, a man with a knife went back into the gas station and attempted to rob it.

"It actually, a bit of a head-scratcher here, this individual robbed the gas station the final time I think 20 minutes after our identification unit had left the gas station," said Const. Jay Murray, with the Winnipeg Police Service.

"Within 20 minutes of police leaving that gas station it was robbed again."

The same officers responding to the robbery spotted the suspect nearby and he was arrested, Murray said.

The man faces multiple charges for robbery and possession of a weapon.
