General Election 2024 London seats: Who will be my MP in....Harrow East?

Millions of voters across London will go to the polls on July 4 to elect the new Government. The Standard is looking at key battleground seats in the capital. Here we turn the spotlight on:

Reetendra Nath Banerji - Liberal Democrats

Bob Blackman - Conservatives

Roger Clark - Reform UK

Sebastian Newsam - Green Party

Primesh Patel - Labour Party

Summary: Labour won Harrow East in the party’s election landslide victories after the Second World War, in 1966 and then in the Blair years.

Conservative Bob Blackman gained the seat in 2010 with a majority of 3,403, which fell to 1,757 in Theresa May’s June 2017 snap election, but he built it up to 8,170 in 2019.

Harrow East is believed to have been the most ethnically diverse Conservative-held constituency in the general elections of 2015 and 2017.

Its population is 34 per cent Christian, 27 per cent Hindu and 16 per cent Muslim, according to the 2021 Census.

In 2022, The Tories won Harrow council from Labour at the local elections, as Westminster, Barnet and Wandsworth went the other way.

Area: The constituency includes the wards of Queensbury, Belmont, Canons, Centenary, Edgware, Harrow Weald, Kenton East, Kenton West and Stanmore
