“General Hospital” Alum David Lautman Proposes to Actress Megan Li Wang with Help from Commercial Where They Met
Lautman surprised Wang by turning a Lenovo commercial they filmed together in 2022 into a proposal video
General Hospital alum David Lautner is getting married!
The 35-year-old actor — who starred as Grant Smoltz in 17 episodes of the daytime series — announced his engagement to actress Megan Li Wang on Sunday.
"She said, 'Yes.' Well, technically, she said, '...I don’t know who you are, yeah, sure!' " he joked in an Instagram post which featured a photo showing off Wang's sparkly ring as the pair held hands.
"But we’ll attribute that to adrenaline, shock, surprise and uncontrollable laughter from the proposal," Lautman continued, directing his followers to a video of the proposal on Wang's TikTok page.
He concluded his post with a sweet message for his new fiancée: "Megan, every day with you is easy; filled with joy, laughter, happiness, and of course, plenty of cats. Looking forward to forever together!"

Wang's aforementioned video showed just how creative Lautman got with his surprise marriage proposal. As explained via narration, Wang "accidentally recorded my own proposal" because she thought an old Lenovo ThinkPad commercial she and Lautman did together in 2022 was re-airing without them receiving a residual payment for it.
The camera filmed the commercial playing on a TV as Wang could be heard asking, "Why are they still airing this? I have to record this because why are they still airing this?"
Suddenly, the commercial cut to an image of Lautman, and a narrator prompted, "Anything else you want to say, David?" After a little funny banter with the narrator, a ring box appeared in Lautman's hand via special effects, and the onscreen version of the actor encouraged the real-life Lautman to ask Wang the big question.
The onscreen version mimicked tossing the ring box to the real Lautman, who then stood up with the actual box in his hand and addressed Wang as the two giggled.
"We met on this commercial, so I thought it would only make sense if we had an extended version that helped me ask you: Will you marry me?" he said.
As Wang remained speechless, he jokingly added, "He's waiting!" as he pointed to the TV version of himself.
"Yeah, sure," Wang finally responded, prompting the pair to laugh even harder.

In the comment section of the post, Lenovo chimed in to offer their congratulations — and a special surprise — for the newly engaged couple.
"You had us worried there for a second 😂," the tech company wrote. "A huge congrats to you both! Since a ThinkPad was there at the start of your love story, can we send you matching ThinkPads to help celebrate?"
"OMG shut up. Yes please 🥹🥹💕💕🫶🏼," Wang replied.
Wang also posted the proposal video on Instagram, writing, "I said yass! 💍🐱," before sharing a playful message for Lautman.
"This relationship has been so easy because it’s right. You never get offended by my comments, instead you insult me back even better 🥹," she told her new fiancé. "You understand me and most importantly, you understand my cats. You’ve given them a dad they’ve always wanted. I can’t wait to have more cats with you."
