Ghostbusters: Afterlife delays its release date once again
Ghostbusters: Afterlife has had its release date delayed by a further three months, moving the upcoming sequel to June 2021.
The film, which is set in the same universe as the first and second Ghostbuster movies, was originally slated for a summer 2020 release, but ended up shifting to March 2021 as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Sony has now announced that Ghostbuster: Afterlife will premiere on June 11, 2021, the same weekend the original film debuted back in 1984.

With this change, Afterlife will now join Venom: Let there be Carnage and computer game adaptation Unchartered as part of Sony's summer blockbuster lineup.
Previously, Afterlife was set to be released just two weeks before another Sony title – Jared Leto's Spider-Man spin-off Morbius. In hindsight, it was always unlikely that two franchise films would premiere so close to each other.
As of yet, Sony is yet to announce any further delay to the release of Morbius.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which stars Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard and Ant-Man's Paul Rudd, is a direct sequel to the original Ghostbusters movies, and it will also feature appearances from iconic cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver.
The new movie will have no connection to Paul Feig's all-female reboot of the franchise.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will now arrive in cinemas on June 11, 2021.
