“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” star Finn Wolfhard reveals what ghost slime tastes like
The actor tells EW that eating slime was "so much better than having, like, fake blood in your mouth!"
Ever wanted to know what a ghost tastes like? Well, just ask Finn Wolfhard.
Although Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire isn’t set to bust its way into theaters until March 22, the film’s trailers have already revealed that Wolfhard’s character, Trevor Spengler, will square up against everyone’s favorite hungry haunt, Slimer, in the upcoming sequel. And, sorry to Trevor, but from the teasers alone, Slimer appears to be the clear winner. After emerging from a pile of garbage, the ghost flies straight through him, causing the shocked teen to spit up a glob of gooey green ectoplasm.
So, what’s it like getting slimed? “It was really awesome,” Wolfhard tells EW. “I read that [scene in the script] and I was like, 'Oh, this is crazy. Like, I get to be the one that gets slimed.’”
According to Wolfhard, Trevor’s surprise sliming was brought to life through practical effects.
“They had this squib that like goes off when the slime comes out of me,” he recalls. “[I had] this little rig on the middle of my chest, and it would basically [shoot out] this sort of... I guess it would be like gelatin mix? I don't really know what it was, but it would shoot out of my shirt, and it was so awesome.”
And, in all honesty, he says that ectoplasm “really wasn’t that bad” to eat.
“I was talking to Mckenna [Grace, who plays Trevor’s sister Phoebe] earlier and I was saying that it really didn't taste like anything. It was almost like minty, thick water,” he explains. “Which sounds gross, but it's so much better than having, like, fake blood in your mouth! Way less sugary and gross.”
Regardless, no one can ever say that Wolfhard isn't committed to a career of ghostbusting — even its gross parts, too.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hits theaters March 22.
